Paul Cook has emphatically dismissed reports of Pompey interest in Liam Noble.
The midfielder has been linked with a Fratton Park move this month ahead of his Notts County contract expiry in the summer.
However, the Blues’ boss has shot down suggestions he is chasing the 24-year-old.
He said: ‘We have been linked with Liam Noble this week – there’s no interest!
‘You can’t change stories like that, it’s football, wherever the story has come from it has come from.
‘When we are linked with players we are linked with them.
‘When we are not, we’re not.
‘We have just got a plan at the club to keep going.
‘Unless someone else is signing him!
‘We are not signing Noble – there has been no contact between clubs, there is nothing in it.
‘Liam is a smashing player, he’s a Notts County player and there is no interest.’
Meanwhile, Pompey along with Scunthorpe have also been linked with Swindon Town striker Michael Smith.
The 24-year-old netted 18 times for the Robins last season.
However, he has not scored during the current campaign, including a 13-match loan spell with Barnsley.
