Steve Coppell has spoken of his excitement after being unveiled as Pompey’s director of football.
Coppell, 58, will link up again with new Blues boss Richie Barker after the duo worked together at League One Crawley Town.
Speaking to Pompey’s official Youtube channel ex-Reading boss Coppell said: ‘It’s going to be a real exciting and interesting journey.
‘I’m fascinated by the concept of the supporters owning the football club.
‘In an age when you see so many outsiders, if I can call them that, owning football clubs, I think it’s terrific to see supporters first and foremost caring about the club to save it and then trying to progress it forward into the future to compete against so many benevolent millionaires, who look after other clubs.’
