Steve Cotterill blasted his men after their Carling Cup exit and told them: You didn’t want it.

League Two side Barnet sprung a surprise at Fratton Park tonight as they dumped the Blues out of the competition.

Skipper Mark Hughes got the only goal of the game as they picked up a 1-0 win.

Cotterill made no bones about his side’s performance and admitted Barnet deserved their success.

He felt his players weren’t committed enough and it was their opponents who looked much hungrier.

Cotterill said: ‘Full credit to Barnet. They deserved it.

‘We look tired and we weren’t the same side who played with guts at Middlesbrough.

‘I don’t think anyone played well. The best performance was average.

‘It looked like there were one or two people out there who didn’t want to get hurt.

‘There were some tackles that were pulled out of. It didn’t look like we wanted it.’
