Steve Cotterill is stepping up his player recruitment drive by spending the next week on the continent.
The Blues boss has pencilled in three matches from various European leagues to take in.
He is casting his net far and wide in a bid to identify targets to strengthen the nine-man squad he currently possesses for next season.
As it stands, the on-going takeover situation has put all player recruitment on hold.
It will remain that way until there is an outcome – either way – over Convers Sports Initiatives’ long-standing interest.
But that has not stopped Cotterill from continuing to plot his transfer targets.
The Blues boss knows he needs to bring in plenty of players if Pompey are to be competitive next term.
Now he is scouring Europe to watch several players recommended to him.
The Championship season finished last weekend, although there are still the play-offs to go.
But the likes of the Spanish, Italian and French leagues are still in action, ensuring there is plenty of football still to see.
He said: ‘I’m going to be out of the country to watch three games over a week.
‘These are all players who have been mentioned to me or recommended to me.
‘They are not guys I know at the moment, so I have got to take a look at them and see them for myself.
‘The end of the season is the only time you get to do this.
‘Sometimes the European leagues are still going so I need to have a look at them.
‘At the moment I could be over there for five days. It might even be eight days, depending on the third game at the moment.’
The German, Dutch and Portuguese leagues all finish this weekend.
