Steve Cotterill lauded Pompey’s record-equalling sixth clean sheet on the bounce.
The Blues equalled their post-war league record for successive shut outs with a 1-0 win over Sheffield United today.
The run puts them level with their effort in 1978-79 under Jimmy Dickinson in division four.
Sheffield United asked a lot of questions in the second-half but Pompey held firm to get the win.
Cotterill said: ‘That was just the ticket. It’s another win.
‘It was a difficult game. Sheffield United are fighting for their lives.
‘We knew we would have a lot of big balls and there was no room for error.
‘If we had taken our chances we could have been three-up early on.
‘We looked a bit like we had played a lot of games.
‘However, we’re getting the clean sheets and that’s what the success has been built on.’
