Steve Cotterill insisted his team were better than Championship leaders QPR.
The Blues fell to a 2-0 defeat at Loftus Road, despite dominating for long periods.
Jamie Ashdown’s mistake gifted Adel Taarabt the opener, before Clint Hill doubled his side’s lead.
Cotterill was frustrated as Pompey’s winless run stretched to nine games.
But he took solace from the display of his men.
Cotterill said: ‘I thought we were the better side, especially in the first half.
‘We put them under a lot of pressure.
‘I was really pleased with the way we performed on the night.
‘QPR will get promoted this season, without doubt, and we gave them a game.’
