Ronan Curtis told how he had the conviction his quality could tell at Coventry.
The Irishman’s 20-yard strike in first-half stoppage-time lit up the meeting at the Ricoh Arena as Pompey picked up a 1-0 win.
That stretched their unbeaten league run to 11 games and opened up a three-point gap at the top of League One.
Curtis had the belief he could make the most of an opening with his talent.
He said: ‘It was a vital win and we’re now 11 unbeaten – the confidence is flying.
‘I took the goal well and I knew what I was doing.
‘I used the defender as a decoy and stuck it in the corner, which was the only place I could put it.
‘I’ve got the belief I have quality to do that.’
