LEADERS Doncaster took advantage of second-placed Plymouth’s slip-up to move six points clear at the top of League Two with a 3-2 victory at Cambridge.

Luke Berry missed a penalty to put the hosts ahead in the ninth minute and the Dons made them pay, Tommy Rowe and Mathieu Baudry netting in the first half before John Marquis added a third from the penalty spot.

George Maris and Berry netted late on for Cambridge.

Plymouth could not stay within three points of Darren Ferguson’s side after losing 1-0 at home to Notts County.

And Carlisle were beaten 1-0 by Cheltenham courtesy of Danny Wright’s late header as Pompey cut the gap on the top three with the Morecambe draw.

Exeter kept their automatic-promotion hopes alive with a 2-1 win at Crawley.
