Evans wants Peterborough fans to replicate Portsmouth passion

Peterborough boss Steve Evans is hoping Posh fans can replicate the Fratton faithful for Saturday’s top-of-the-table clash against Pompey.

Evans is keen to get the ABAX Stadium ‘rocking’ as both teams set out to maintain their unbeaten starts to the season.

The Posh go into the game sitting at the summit of League One – two points ahead of the second-placed Blues in the table.

Pompey fans have snapped up more than 2,100 tickets for the all-ticket fixture, after selling out their initial allocation of 1,650, as they bid to get behind their team’s bid for promotion.

It’s a loyalty Evans admires – and he wants Peterborough fans to show the same commitment to ensure the away support are drown out on Saturday.

Speaking to the Peterborough Telegraph, Evans said: ‘Portsmouth have a fantastic fan base.

‘They pack out Fratton Park every week and they travel in huge numbers.

‘But our supporters have been outstanding all season.

‘The players and the management all appreciate their backing and it would be great to see some extra fans turn up on Saturday.

‘The ABAX Stadium is a special place when it’s rocking.’
