POMPEY fans’ groups say they have been left angered by the the prices for season tickets.

The club revealed the prices were going up by 22 per cent, but said this was due to the VAT increase in January, and a levy to the Football League which had not been factored into this season’s prices.

Existing season ticket holders have two weeks to find £450 – but they cannot use their debit or credit cards to pay.

Instead they can pay by cash or cheque, or use the club’s interest free finance plan.

It is one of the issues fans’ group SOS Pompey and the Pompey Supporters’ Trust (PST) has with the prices.

SOS Pompey said in a statement it is urging members to boycott the games this season.

But Ashley Brown, of the PST, said: ‘Undoubtedly season ticket renewal numbers will be hit, but it is important that fans continue to find ways in which they can make public their passion for this great football club.’
