FAN power has helped Pompey win £30,000 – and the cost of season tickets will be slashed as a result.

Pompey supporters in their thousands have been backing the club on social networking sites Twitter and Facebook in the Football League’s virtual Fanpower Stadium competition.

Fans had to log ‘noise counts’ to show support for their club. Pompey fans proved not just the loudest but filled a higher percentage of their online stadium than any other club over the 11-week competition. The £30,000 prize generated by fans registering nearly 70,000 noise counts will help cut the cost of season tickets.

Pompey administrator Trevor Birch said: ‘This speaks volumes about the enthusiasm Pompey fans have. This shows just how much they care – they are the club’s best asset.’
