As Pompey set off to Newport for tomorrow’s League Two clash at Rodney Parade, Kal Naismith is pushing for a maiden start as the Blues seek Gareth Evans’ replacement.
One player who won’t be incontention, however, is Adam McGurk.
He is currently out injured and manager Paul Cook has spoken of his
concern over the forward’s run of early-season injuries.

Cook will probably go with his tried-and-tested 4-2-3-1 formation at Newport tomorrow and the manager has reiterated his belief that Matt Tubbs has shown he is capable of operating as the system’s figurehead.

Goalkeeper Brian Murphy will be hoping he gets the nod to reclaim his No1 jersey after playing in the reserve-team’s midweek friendly victory against Cardiff.
