If we can put up a battle and performance like against Blackburn – but eradicate the defensive errors – I think we can win.

It’s going to be a tough one. Southend haven’t lost in four but we can go up there and win if we cut out the silly errors and we’re more dynamic going forward. I will go with a 2-1 victory for Pompey.

I’d swap Jamal Lowe back to the right wing.

Against MK Dons and Blackburn, I felt Gareth Evans gave the ball away too much and his first touch has been a bit suspect.

I’m also not a huge fan of Lowe on the left.

For me, he’s better racing his man to the byline and cutting the ball back with his right foot.

I don’t see him cutting back on the corner of the box like Matty Kennedy would do or Kal Naismith.

The other change I would make is bringing Oli Hawkins in for Brett Pitman.

Pompey’s captain has worked harder since he was dropped a couple of weeks ago and I’ll give him kudos for that.

However, Hawkins’ headers are directed into a better position for the number 10 to get on to.

For Conor Chaplin’s size and physicality, he has a good sense of where the flick on will land so I’d like to see the two together.
