Michael Eisner stressed the importance of Pompey agreeing a deal with Nike to supply the club’s kit.

The Blues signed a three-year contract with the sportswear giants in March, replacing Sondico.

Pompey have donned Nike's swoosh logo on their match-day jerseys and training gear since the start of the summer.

Meanwhile, the deal also allowed the club to open a new shop in Anson Road, moving from their previous Fratton Way location.

Eisner played a key role in securing Nike, believing the terms of their contract represents a ‘big deal’ for the club.

Dovetailed with the big screen that has been erected above the Milton End at Fratton Park, Tornante’s chairman believes Pompey are making swift progress since their 2017 takeover.

Speaking via video to those gathered at the Pompey Supporters’ Trust’s AGM on Thursday, Eisner said: ‘It was very important to get Nike for the new kit.

‘I think Nike knows and loves Portsmouth but there was a little help from us over here (in America).

‘We have a long relationship with Phil Knight (co-founder and chairman emeritus of Nike) and the Nike company.

‘Between the management in Portsmouth and us over here, having dealt with Nike for years, getting Nike is a big deal.

‘Being able to move the merchandise store which was under scaffolding down the street to right behind the North Stand has also been a big deal.

‘That marriage has really been important to the club.

‘Having the jumbotron as well has been important.

‘Things are really coming together and we’re happy about that.’
