How much would Portsmouth’s Ronan Curtis’ price tag be after he’s linked with Brighton, Leeds and Derby?

It was a tweet that put paid to any fears Ronan Curtis’ Pompey stay would be a brief one.

On Monday, TEAMtalk reported a number of Premier League and Championship clubs have sent scouts to watch Curtis following his scintillating start at the Blues.

The story went on to say that Pompey were bracing themselves for bids in January for the 22-year-old after netting six goals and creating five for the League One leaders.

In the aftermath of the ‘exclusive’ it was the hot topic of conversation on social media.

Some Blues fans scoffed at it, while others told the likes of Brighton, Leicester, Leeds and Derby to keep their hands off.

Last night, however, Curtis declared he has no intention of leaving Fratton Park.

It’s no surprise the winger is not ready to leave the south coast.

The 22-year-old moved to Fratton Park because he wants to work his way up the English football ladder following his arrival from League of Ireland side Derry City.

Curtis has also previously stated he can fulfil his ambitions at the Blues.

Nevertheless, all of the gossip has got plenty wondering: Just how much is Curtis currently worth?

His price tag has certainly increased manifold since moving to PO4 for a fee in excess of £100,000 in June.

If a side were to bid for Curtis, it’s unlikely nothing below seven figures would be accepted given his exploits, age and potential.

When Conor Chaplin’s Coventry loan turns into a permanent switch in January, the Fratton Park coffers will be bolstered by around £500,000.

Given the Worthing ace was a fringe player at Pompey – albeit highly regarded and has netted three times at the Sky Blues – a significantly higher fee for Curtis would be likely be demanded if an offer came in.

After all, the former Swilly Rovers youth player is banging on the door of becoming a senior international.

Curtis has twice been called up to Martin O’Neill’s Ireland set-up but missed out on his debut on both occasions.

There has been an estimation on what the south London-born talent is currently worth.

At the start of October, the Daily Mail’s ‘secret scout’ ran the rule over the forward during Pompey’s 1-0 win at Coventry.

Curtis was the visitors’ match-winner, with his angled drive on the stroke of half-time clinching his side the three points.

His performance prompted the secret scout to value him at £1.5m.

Meanwhile, the boffins behind Football Manager 2019 have slapped a £450k valuation on Curtis in this year’s computer game.

Only Jackett knows what sort of bid would tempt him into allowing the charismatic forward to leave Pompey.

Although Curtis insisted he’s staying put, what fee the Blues would collect for him has certainly caused plenty of debate.
