First-half goals from Tom Naylor and Gareth Evans gave the visitors the lead, but James Hanson's 63rd-minute effort sparked a fightback from the Wombles.

However, the Blues defended gallantly and ensured they retained a three-point lead from Peterborough at the summit of the table.

Here's what the Fratton faithful had to say about Pompey's performance on Twitter...

@Ian_Darke

Pompey had to dig deep to hold on to win at Wimbledon. Deserved it on first hour domination. Lost control after AFC scored though.

Our chairman wearing his baseball cap back to front such a cool dude. Fast becoming a #Pompey fashion icon with his own branded clothing

Thats how you bounce back from your first league defeat of the season, you win again! and deservedly so!

@AJPFC

Big 3 points nice to see grinding out games breath of fresh air. But please Wimbledon sort your away end out it's like musical chairs trying to see the action #pompey

@ABCheatle

It was scintillating first half display by #pompey with Evans and Lowe running amok at Kingsmeadow. The second half was a case of weathering the #AFCW storm in a professional composed manner. Clarke is a rock.

@RobaFett83

It really was a game of two halves. Saw both sides of Pompey. Important win after last weeks loss at home.

@TaylorBinding

Another big result in the bag #Pompey

@themartinfish

We wobbled when they went long 2nd half after bossing 1st. Still deserved hard-fought victory though. Gutsy team performance #pompey#
