POMPEY have landed Aston Villa striker Michael Drennan on a month’s loan.
The 20-year-old will bolster Richie Barker’s striking additions for a busy period of games on the horizon.
Drennan has yet to play a senior game at Villa Park but has spent time on loan at League One outfit Carlisle this year.
The Republic of Ireland under-21 international failed to score in six appearances at Brunton Park.
But he has an impressive goalscoring record in domestic and European under-21 football at club level.
Drennan scored six goals in 11 Barclays Premier League under-21 appearances last season.
He also delivered a fine return as Villa won the NextGen Series - featuring 24 of Europe’s top Academies - finishing as the competition’s second highest scorer with six goals.
Drennan will go straight into the Pompey squad for the trip to Scunthorpe, subject to league approval.
