The Blues were held 2-2 by Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday, surrendering their position at the top of League One.

Brett Pitman thought he'd grabbed Pompey a late winner on 86 minutes but Joe Jacobson's penalty three minutes later cancelled out that effort to grab the Chairboys a point.

The result was the Blues' second successive draw on their own patch following the stalemate against Shrewsbury Town two weeks ago.

Jackett insisted wins won't come easily for Pompey this term.

And the boss believes his side must find the solution to ensure they're are picking up three points at home.

The manager said: '˜You don't get things easily.

'˜Wycombe and Shrewsbury are good teams, got good players, good managers and are well organised.

'˜It's not going to be easy for you.

'˜I've always said whoever you are you're going to have to work very hard to get points you get.

'˜We had to work hard to get one point on Saturday.

'˜We would have loved it to have been three and it was two draws at home.

'˜But we have played good teams and in both situations they could have been wins but they weren't.

'˜We're the ones who have to find the solution how we're going to turn those draws into wins.

'˜But it's not something that will just be given or expected.

'˜We are a big club but there are a lot of good teams in this division and you have to work hard to earn everything.'

After a slow start, Pompey fell behind on 21 minutes through Bryn Morris' superb strike.

Gareth Evans equalised for the Blues early in the second half when he headed home Jamal Lowe's cross before the winger assisted Pitman in the 86th minute.

However, Christian Burgess' foul on Fred Onyedinma two minutes later gave Jacobson the opportunity to level from the penalty spot.

Jackett admitted he was frustrated his side didn't hang on for a win.

But he saluted the spirit Wycombe displayed to fight back.

'˜We have to make sure at the right time we play the ball,' added Jackett.

'˜Playing through (the middle) will give us more control in the game.

'˜There is a degree of frustration because we're 2-1 up on 88 minutes but Gareth has got a really good team there and they've got terrific spirit.

'˜The way the game panned out didn't surprise me.'
