Kenny Jackett’s new contract has provided a big boost for Pompey fans.
Owner Michael Eisner is showing he clearly values stability and is looking to the future.
Fans are delighted a new deal has been agreed with boss Kenny Jackett until 2021.
Supporters have been reacting to the news on twitter and on portsmouth.co.uk
Here’s what they had to say...
Peter Purdy - Best signing of the season, I sense KJ could become a Pompey legend!
Matt Loten - Another clear statement that the Eisner family and Tornante are running this club in a sensible, far-sighted manner. This provides Jackett with the stability to construct a balanced squad and move us forward in a sustainable manner. Incredibly glad that the foundations built by the Trust’s excellent work are being built upon.
Gavin Bird - Bigger Compensation from any of those sniffing?
Dan Francis - Stability is rare in this game. Well done all, good move.
No rush for promotion still, a flutter with the playoffs maybe, promotion next year will do fine.
Let’s keep building and pushing in the background and getting the foundations right.
Dan Lacey - Someone has been sniffing around perhaps? Good news in terms of stability.
John Ellerton - You reward success and he hasn’t achieved any yet, if he gets top 6 by the end of the season then it would make sense.
Chris Quinell - Stability at last ! well done Michael.
Dave Clarke - This might have something to do with the Wales job being vacant - either way, stability is what we need, and this a good step towards that. Play Up Pompey.
Dan Shaw @DanShawADcom - Hopefully now I won’t have to read people tweeting the Eisner’s with Jackett Out messages for a while. Statement of intent has been made & a clear message sent that the building of the club is a long-term project. Patience is a virtue #Pompey
Dazzla @dazza_nics - Lovely stuff... more than ever now we need consistency! I have no doubt that Jackett is the man to take us forward long-term! Try explaining that to the minority of #Pompey fans though
