FORMER Watford owner Laurence Bassini has submitted a bid for Pompey, The News can reveal.

Stanmore-based businessman Mr Bassini, who sold Watford in June this year, confirmed he submitted his offer yesterday.

The News revealed in August that Mr Bassini was interested in investing in Pompey.

A spokesman for administrators PKF confirmed another bid has been submitted to Trevor Birch.

But it is understood Balram Chainrai’s Portpin and the Pompey Supporters’ Trust are ahead of Mr Bassini’s bid.

It comes after both parties were given an extension to complete their bids on Friday.

PKF says they are continuing to work with the Football League and the PFA and hope a decision will be made as soon as possible.
