Pompey target is ‘too good for League Two’

Have your say

Liam Lawrence has been confirmed as being out of the weekend trip to Hull.

The Pompey skipper has been given an automatic one-match ban following his Upton Park sending off.

That ensures he will sit out the KC Stadium encounter on Saturday.

Previously, Lawrence had collected two yellow cards this season.

He now has three to his name – with only the first booking against West Ham counting towards his disciplinary record.

When he reaches five, another suspension will follow.

Pompey have a clutch of players currently on three bookings.

They include Tal Ben Haim, Hayden Mullins and Joel Ward.

David Norris and Jamie Ashdown are the only two first-team regulars yet to receive a booking.

It was Lawrence’s second sending off for Pompey.

He was previously dismissed following two yellow cards in the 1-1 Fratton Park draw with QPR in November last year.
