Leam Richardson felt Pompey finally deserved their goalscoring fortune following the romp over York City.
The Blues took advantage of Jonathan Greening’s red card to net six times in the second half at Fratton Park tonight.
Marc McNulty grabbed a hat-trick, Ben Davies netted a deflected goal, while substitutes Ben Tollitt and Conor Chaplin also got on the scoresheet.
It was a ruthless display from the hosts, who collected their first Fratton Park triumph since mid-September.
And assistant boss Richardson believed the 6-0 result was warranted.
He said: ‘The most pleasing thing is the lads have deserved it a little bit with the work ethic that has been brought to the club from the first game.
‘It is nice that it pays off every now and again. This was one of those nights.
‘The past few weeks there has been a tinge of disappointment with decisions going against us, so it’s nice that most things have fallen for us and ended up in the back of the net.
‘It is great, the big thing is you only get three points and we are in November so our message is the same, as the manager has been saying ever since he came to the club.
‘We will come in again and dust ourselves down as though it is another day.’
