The old and the new came together for the first time as Pompey’s pre-season yesterday kicked-off.
Paul Cook’s era got under way with a gym session at their Copnor Road training ground, featuring all six of their recent recruits.
The arrivals of Adam McGurk and Adam Barton were yesterday announced and they were joined by Kal Naismith, Kyle Bennett, Enda Stevens and Gary Roberts.
They linked up with familiar faces Paul Robinson, Johnny Ertl, Paul Jones and Matt Tubbs, Danny Hollands, James Dunne, Michael Poke, Conor Chaplin, Andy Barcham, Nigel Atangana, Ben Close and Adam Webster.
Jack Whatmough was also in attendance as he continues his recovery from a cruciate knee ligament injury.
As previously revealed by The News, Tom Craddock was present as he seeks to make an impression during the Blues’ pre-season.
The 28-year-old has recovered from a career-threatening knee injury and was invited back by Cook who released him last month.
Completing the squad on display were new first-year pros Chad Field, Snorre Nilsen and Brandon Haunstrup.
Field is a central defender from Portchester, Nilsen is a Norwegian defender or midfielder and Haunstrup an attacking left-back from Waterlooville.
The trio all progressed from Mikey Harris’ Pompey Academy under-18 side to be given professional terms.
Cook’s new-look squad spent the afternoon running in Portchester as they get into the swing of pre-season.
