The Blues were given a mountain to climb after they conceded two goals inside 12 minutes at Roots Hall.

Gareth Evans grabbed a goal back for Kenny Jackett's side, but Jason Demetriou's second goal of the game six minutes from time wrapped up the three points for the hosts.

Nevertheless, Lowe felt Pompey had the opportunities to clinch at least a point at Southend.

The winger said: 'We had the majority of the possession, the majority of the chances.

'Even when we went down to 10 men we looked pretty strong. We limited them to very few chances.

'When we went down to 10 men they had a few counter-attacker but besides from that we had enough chances to finish off the game or even equalise.

'When you don't put chances way, have 10 men and are away from home, all those things add up and it shows in the result.
