JAMAL LOWE hailed Pompey’s wing-wonder double act with Ronan Curtis after demolishing Plymouth.

The rampaging pair created and scored all three of the Blues’ goals between them to inflict a comprehensive 3-0 defeat on Derek Adams’ men.

Ever-present in Kenny Jackett’s side during their charge into second place, Curtis now has five goals and Lowe four in League One this term.

Operating on separate flanks in an attacking-midfield three, the duo continue to be in devastating form.

And Lowe is revelling in their Pompey presence.

He said: ‘It is enjoyable being in the same team as Ronan because we are very similar players.

‘It’s nice to play with him because if I’m crossing it he’s in the box, if he’s crossing it I’m in the box – and you saw that on Saturday.

‘He set my goal up, I’ve set one of his goals up, it’s a partnership which will hopefully blossom this season.

‘Ronan is massive for us, he lifts the crowd with the way he plays, lifts the players with his energy – it’s good to have him in the team.

‘He’s enthusiastic, he gets at players, he gets shots off and gets crosses in. What more can you ask for? He’s an honest lad, he comes in, works hard every day, he’s good at his craft and working at his craft every day.

‘When you are like that it’s only a matter of time before you gel because you have all the right ingredients and the right attitude.

‘There was a moment on Saturday where a ball looked like a terrible pass, nobody was anywhere near it, and out of nowhere he almost made it into a great ball.

‘It’s that type of thing which lifts the players, gets them higher up the pitch and lifts the crowd. He’s a very big asset for us.’

A Republic of Ireland under-21 call-up now robs Pompey of Curtis this week.

He will miss the Checkatrade Trophy clash with Gillingham tomorrow and the League One fixture against Shrewsbury on Saturday – both at Fratton Park.

Lowe added: ‘For my goal, it was Ronan with the assist – and I scored a header, which is very rare for me, so I’m happy with that.

‘I was just about on the line, closed my eyes and then banged against the post after scoring!

‘With my assist for Ronan, I’m faster than their defence, the further I kick the more time I can get up to speed so my touch down the right was timed perfectly.

‘He was in the right place, right time and stuck it away to make it 1-0 at the time.’
