Bookmakers today closed their markets on who will be named next Pompey manager.

Stan James and Sky Bet have both shut their markets, with Sean O’Driscoll their favourite to succeed Steve Cotterill at Fratton Park.

Local bookies, The Betting Room, closed their next Pompey manager market on Saturday evening.

Tim Clement, content executive for Sky Bet, said: ‘All the bookmakers have suspended betting on the next Portsmouth manager, with Sean O’Driscoll expected to be announced.’

A source for Stan James said: ‘There’s a lot of information going around about Sean O’Driscoll.

‘As soon as this gets out the bookies close straightaway to stop money leaking out of the pot.’

The Betting Room’s Peter Higgins added: ‘We suspended it Saturday evening based on a feeling rather than absolute knowledge.

‘It does appear a decision is imminent.’

The Blues today hold their regular pre-match press conference at Eastleigh, ahead of tomorrow’s meeting with Crystal Palace.
