Martin Allen has ended speculation that he might be Pompey’s next boss by signing a new contract at Barnet.
The 49-year-old former Fratton star’s deal had expired at the end of last month.
He was widely linked to the race to succeed Andy Awford, although Chesterfield’s Paul Cook has for long been considered most likely to be offered the job.
Now Allen has ruled himself out of the running by agreeing to lead Barnet as they return to the Football League next season.
He told the club’s website: ‘I am pleased that it has all been sorted and I am excited to be taking this group of players onto the challenge of the next level.’
