Joe Mattock has insisted Pompey are the only Championship club he will join on loan.

Yet it remains to be seen when he will get the green light from parent club West Bromwich Albion.

The Football League have given permission for both Mattock and team-mate George Thorne to rejoin the Blues.

Having already been at the club when former owners CSI entered administration, they do not come under the registration restrictions currently in place.

Before letting the pair out again, however, the Baggies are waiting for the outcome of several player bids.

In addition, they require their current injury list to clear up. In the meantime, Mattock – who started against Norwich at the weekend – is interesting several other clubs. But the left-back has told Michael Appleton Pompey are the only Championship club for him.

The Blues boss said: ‘West Brom have got a few players injured and are also waiting on people regarding on bids.

‘Once they get them back in then they will be in a position where maybe they can allow players to go back out on loan.

‘There is a danger others might get them on loan – of course there is.

‘You have got to bear that in mind and be aware of it. There have been a few little bits, especially with Joe because he was playing regularly.

‘He tells me he doesn’t want to go anywhere else in the Championship apart from us, though. I can only hold him to his word.

‘The Football League are basically saying they won’t step in our way, they won’t be saying “you can’t do this” or “you can’t do that”.

‘West Brom pay their wages anyway so if anything went belly up here they are West Brom players and get paid by them, anyway.’

Meanwhile, it has emerged Kelvin Etuhu has signed a one-month deal.

Appleton believed the midfielder had joined until the end of the season with an option.

However, the club have now clarified the deal is for an initial month.
