Pompey hero Paul Merson is returning.
And he promises to once again entertain football fans in his own inimitable way.
The Hawks are tonight holding an evening with the man who skippered the Blues to the Premier League.
Merson was the fulcrum of the side which took the division one title in the 2002-03 campaign.
He will be at The Westleigh, Martin Road, at 7pm.
And tickets are still on sale from the pub, which is part of the Hawks’ West Leigh Park ground.
The occasion is sure to be a popular draw for Pompey fans who used to cheer him from the Fratton stands.
The midfielder made 48 appearances and scored 12 goals during his one Blues season.
Once Merson had taken his side into the Premier League, Harry Redknapp decided to release him, much to the ex-Arsenal man’s disappointment.
Inevitably, that will be one of the many topics up for discussion tonight.
And the former England international will also be taking questions from the audience.
In addition, those attending can expect to hear many of the amusing stories he racked up during 20 years in professional football, the majority of which was spent in the top flight.
One of the game’s great characters, Merson nowadays sits on Sky’s Soccer Saturday giving his views.
But he still has fond memories of his time at Pompey and is back on the south coast tonight.
An Evening With Paul Merson is priced at £15 per ticket.
Tickets can be bought on the night at the door.
