Marcos Painter has set his sights on collecting the third championship-winner’s medal of his career at Pompey.
The new recruit is aiming for another title after arriving at Fratton Park last week.
Painter has collected league winner’s medals at both Swansea and Brighton during his time in the game.
It is that experience which played a big role in Guy Whittingham handing him a contract until January.
The 27-year-old may be operating at a lower level after moving to Pompey.
But that hasn’t devalued the thought of topping the pile in English football’s basement division.
Painter said: ‘Winning the title – that’s the aim.
‘I laugh at it but I want to get as many promotions in my career as possible.
‘I’ve got two League One winner’s medals and I don’t want to stop now.
‘I know I’m in League Two but I want to add that to my collection as well. It is something to strive for this season.’
Painter also explained his decision to turn down a move to Championship side Yeovil this summer.
He said: ‘I went down there. It was a chance for me to look at them as well as them me. But you get a feeling in this game. I didn’t get the same feeling I had here.’
