Pompey will unveil their new away kit in their Fratton Park friendly with Chelsea.

The Blues host the Premier League runners-up on Saturday, July 16 as part of their pre-season programme.

And the occasion will be used to reveal one of three strips – a new home kit, as well as two away ones – being introduced for next season.

The precise colours of all kits are being kept under wraps.

However, commercial director Lucius Peart has assured fans the club will not be straying from the traditional royal blue as a home strip.

Kappa will continue to manufacture the kit, while Jobsite are once again the main sponsors.

Pompey supporters will see for themselves the week beginning July 11, with the scheduled launch of the away kit.

Those same shirts will be worn against Chelsea in Pompey’s only home friendly this summer.

After that unveiling, the home shirt will on go sale in the middle of August.

Finally, a third strip will hit shops in the middle of September.

The cost for all three kits has yet to be decided.

But Peart is confident fans will not be disappointed with the strip selection.

He said: ‘We always try to get something different.

‘It wouldn’t be right if every kit looked like the last one.

‘However, there is not much room for manoeuvre with the red, white and blue.

‘So we can promise fans we will stay with tradition, with the royal blue for the home kit.

‘We have consulted a number of fans’ groups and, generally, the kits have been well received.

‘I can also say any kit pictures leaked on the internet recently are wildly inaccurate. Please pay no attention to them.’
