Simeon Jackson has been backed to keep up his scoring streak by putting Pompey to the sword.

That is the verdict of Grant Holt, who believes his red-hot team-mate is a player to be feared when Norwich visit Fratton Park on Monday.

Jackson has banged in eight goals in his past six matches, including two hat-tricks.

It is a remarkable run of form for a striker who has struggled to convince Carrow Road supporters for the majority of the season.

Now he will lead the Canaries’ attack alongside Holt at Fratton on Monday.

And Holt believes there can be more goals for the promotion chasers from the 24-year-old.

He said: ‘I played against Simeon a few times when he was at Gillingham and you knew he was a natural goalscorer.

‘As a forward, it is never easy when you are in or out and have a dip in form and Simeon will be the first to tell you he wasn’t performing great.

‘He was working hard but wasn’t getting his goals.

‘I think once he got the hat-trick against Scunthorpe and scored the week after it gave him that bit of confidence to say “yes I’m ready” and he has stepped up and been fantastic. If he continues to do what he is doing it bodes well.

‘He has got everything that a good, top forward needs – he is quick, he is strong and scores goals.

‘When he is on his game there is no one better.’
