Jackett: Pompey can bridge the gap

Have your say

Romain Padovani has left Pompey by mutual consent.

The Frenchman had 12 months remaining on the two-year deal he signed last summer, but that has now been ripped up.

Recruited by Guy Whittingham following an impressive trial, the 24-year-old impressed on occasions during his 22 appearances.

He also scored a Boxing Day winner over Dagenham & Redbridge at Fratton Park.

Yet injury and the form of other midfielders kept him out of the final 10 matches of the season, not making a first-team squad after March 11.
