Andy Awford celebrated his appointment as Pompey boss with the Sky Bet League Two manager of the month award for April.
The 41-year-old, who was yesterday announced as Pompey manager on a one-year rolling contract, has made a seamless transition into first-team management after being appointed on an inital caretaker basis in March.
An impressive 13 points from 15 in an April full of attacking intent took the Blues from the brink of relegation to the comforts of mid-table.
And Awford, who beat Northampton Town’s Chris Wilder, Southend’s Phil Brown and Chesterfield’s Paul Cook to the prestigious award, could yet crown an unbeaten end to the season with victory over Plymouth tomorrow.
A sixth win in seven games would ensure the Blues end the season with a top-10 finish.
