Pompey boss Paul Cook has pledged to field another strong side for today’s visit to Gosport Borough (3pm).

The Blues drew 1-1 at Bognor last night in a match marred by a knee injury to Gary Roberts.

Now they travel to Privett Park for their third match of pre-season, with those who didn’t feature against the Rocks to be given a run out.

That will include Danny Hollands, Michael Poke, Kal Naismith, Jayden Stockley, Adam Webster, Conor Chaplin and Brandon Haunstrup.

However, recent signing Ben Tollitt is on holiday, while James Dunne and Johnny Ertl once again will not feature.

In addition, right-back Connor Randall has returned to Liverpool, while Adam Barton aggravated his groin problem during the warm-up for last night’s game.

But Cook still anticipates a testing line-up for Borough to contend with.

He said: ‘We want to be strong and will have a strong side out today.

‘The lads are competing for places now and you want to make sure you are one of the ones in the team.

‘It will be a completely different team, obviously there will be the ones who weren’t involved such as Ben Close, Danny Hollands, Webbo and Jayden.

‘But Adam (Barton) got injured in the warm-up last night. He’s had a groin injury and had a little bit of a recurrence.

‘We might have another look at him but he has gone back to Liverpool for a little break.

‘We have got one or two irons in the fire.

‘James Dunne has had a little girl and I can’t bring him back from hospital!

‘I am sure there will be more news on Johnny soon – but neither will play today.’
