Pompey are closing in on the signing of Adam McGurk.
The forward will tomorrow be manager Paul Cook’s fifth summer capture, with Christian Burgess also set to move to Fratton Park.
Northern Irishman McGurk was a key part of the Burton Albion side that lifted the League Two title last season.
However, he has decided not to renew his contract at the Pirelli Stadium and will be available on a free transfer.
The 26-year-old has one Northern Ireland under-21 cap but is still to break through into the senior set-up.
He scored 19 goals in 69 appearances for Burton, after joining them from Tranmere Rovers in 2013.
Meanwhile, Burgess is also set to complete his move to Pompey from Peterborough after a fee and personal terms were agreed last week.
