Pompey were today hoping to finalise their move for Michael Doyle.
The midfielder was at the Blues’ Roko training base in Hilsea this afternoon to thrash out the terms of his switch to Fratton Park.
Doyle met chief executive Mark Catlin and Blues staff with the protracted transfer saga nearing a close.
The 33-year-old is a free agent after leaving Sheffield United, and has been on Paul Cook’s radar all summer.
Doyle trained with Pompey last week but pulled out of their training camp in Portugal.
It now appears Cook is close to getting his man, as he looks to add to his seven summer additions.
