Martin Paterson is close to a move to Fratton Park, according to reports.
The Burnley striker, who endured an injury-hit campaign last term, was a key figure in the club’s promotion to the Premier League.
He scored 19 goals in that season, which also saw the Clarets reach the League Cup semi-final.
Pompey boss Steve Cotterill is a fan of the 24-year-old.
And reports suggest he would like to see him join forces with another target Luke Varney.
The Blues are believed to be closing in on the Derby striker, too, as they attempt to step up their recruitment drive ahead of pre-season training which begins on Friday.
