Joe Devera has been ruled out of Pompey’s clash with Fleetwood.

Guy Whittingham has revealed the defender is not ready to play tomorrow after tearing his hamstring against Burton.

That will open the door for Bondz N’Gala to line up alongside Sonny Bradley in the centre of defence.

But Whittingham admits the selection is not quite so clear-cut elsewhere in his back four, with Yassin Moutaouakil out through suspension.

He said: ‘There are going to be two changes from the starting line-up, of course there is.

‘When you change a side after winning a game you have to be really careful of why you are making the changes.

‘Obviously, changes are forced upon us because of the injury and a sending off.

‘It may not necessarily mean Shaun Cooper starts at right-back

‘Danny (East) has slotted in at left-back and done well for us but if I chose to put Marcos Painter back in it doesn’t mean Danny is out of the side.

‘He can step in at right-back, but we’ve also got Shaun who can play at right-back, centre midfield and left-back.

‘That’s the importance of having that type of player and they are invaluable at this level, absolutely invaluable.

‘The players know there are such a lot of games, there will be more suspensions down the line, there will be injuries and it’s a squad that succeeds, not a first XI.’
