Michael Appleton is expecting his two injury scares to shake off their worries ahead of tomorrow’s clash with Walsall.
Both Jack Compton and Izale McLeod suffered knocks in training this week and the Blues boss is keeping his fingers crossed they will not join Gabor Gyepes on the absent list.
Appleton said: ‘Jack Compton has got a bit of a dead leg but we think he is going to be okay.
‘Izale picked up a minor knock in training but we think he will be fine, so we’re pretty much okay apart from Gabor.’
There is also good news with Mustapha Dumbuya returning after he missed Pompey’s win at Crawley to be an unused substitute in Sierra Leone’s 2-2 draw with Tunisia.
Appleton said: ‘Muzzy is back – and he’s got splinters in his backside!’
The Blues boss is also hopeful Gyepes’ ankle problem may not keep him out for as long as three weeks.
Appleton said: ‘I spoke to him and he seems a bit more optimistic. He is walking a lot easier on it, so hopefully he might be back a bit sooner.’
