After being dropped for the arrival of Stephen Henderson before his injury, the former Spurs man had a point to prove.

With a brilliant attitude and determined approach he did just that, making some superb saves in the dramatic 2-1 success.

It was a magnificent performance and Pompey fans are delighted with his work.

Here are some of the comments from our facebook page Portsmouth FC – The News...

Michael Thomas: There is no harm in dropping a player, he is a good player but not irreplaceable, he has his weaknesses but at the end of the day it’s League One football so no one is perfect.

Every player needs to know their place is not guaranteed, we also need a quality back up keeper as Bass is not first team ready. Look at our League Two play-off season we got through loads of keepers and it cost us.

David Harvey: Played like a super hero, no bad feelings he said after the game!! McGee saved loads. Could not see us winning that game but we did... bring on faltering Blackburn on Tuesday night..

Jake Meyers: MOTM without a doubt. Should never have been dropped in the first place!

Dan Knight: Clarke was superb AGAIN but McGee won us that match and was my MOTM. Was strange/harsh to drop him in the 1st place!

Jo Blackman: He’s out to prove a point and did it in style. Should never have been dropped to begin with.

Richard Pratt: Great management, needed pushing to get best out of him. Will be a top keeper.

Cath Absolom: Well Done, Luke!. Brilliant reaction as a player and a man! As Mr Jackett really needs to remember he was a player once as well. So hopefully he still remembers how that feels.

Terry Wallington: He played a first class game, we have no need at all for another goalie.

David Griffiths: McGee was great, goal move started from his free-kick.

Tom Ireton: Was absolutely class yesterday and didn’t let being dropped knock his confidence. Deserves to wear the shirt.
