POMPEY fans travelling by train to the match with Brighton on March 10 face disruption to their journeys.

Supporters using the service from Portsmouth Harbour to Brighton stations face journeys of up to two-and-a-half hours due to pre-planned work.

Network Rail engineers are replacing track through Ford station and carrying out additional maintenance in the area between Littlehampton and Barnham.

Rail provider Southern Railways is providing replacement buses during the journey.

A Southern Railways spokesman said: ‘Unfortunately, engineering works cannot be planned around football matches, so we have to work around them as best as we can.

‘Fans travelling to and from the Portsmouth Brighton game along the West Coastway will need to allow enough time to complete their journeys in time for the game as there will be bus services between Littlehampton and Barnham.’
