Pompey were held to a frustrating 0-0 draw against Oxford today.
Andy Awford’s side had the better of it at Fratton Park but couldn’t find a goal from their pressure.
It was a clean sheet as the Blues made it seven games unbeaten.
But it felt like a missed opportunity in front of a crowd of 16,355.
Pompey had the better of the first half but couldn’t take any of the chances which came their way.
Ryan Taylor had a couple of headers saved by Ryan Clarke and the keeper did well to tip Jed Wallace’s angled drive around the post in the 16th minute.
Paul Robinson should have done better when he headed over from a corner in the 31st minute.
Clarke again denied Pompey four minutes before the break when he tipped over Tubbs’ header from Wallace’s whipped cross.
The pattern of the game remained the same after the break with Pompey having the pressure.
There was less in the way of clear chances, although Wallace grazed the bar after 56 minutes and Tubbs dragged a shot wide.
A fine tackle from Jake Wright denied Taylor a certain goal late on.
Pompey couldn’t find that elusive goal through three minutes of stoppage time.
