Pompey Ladies are in seventh heaven after Emma Sherwood showed former club West Ham exactly what they were missing in the Blues’ 7-0 FA Women’s Premier League southern division rout.
Perry Northeast’s side simply blew the Hammers aside at Gosport Borough’s Privett Park ground with Sherwood, who was released by the Londoners earlier in the season, netting a hat-trick to crown an impressive display.
The striker was joined on the scoresheet by Ini Umotong and Sarah Kempson who both scored doubles in an all-round excellent team display.
The Blues led 6-0 at the break and were 7-0 up inside 55 minutes before taking their foot off the gas to comfortably see out an emphatic victory.
The win puts Northeast’s side up to fourth in the table, with the reigning champions nine points off league leaders Brighton but with two games in hand.
