Free agent Paul Caddis is rumoured to be training with Pompey this week, with a view to a potential move to Fratton Park.
The 28-year-old right-back departed Birmingham City last month by mutual consent and spent time training with fellow Championship outfit Blackburn recently, although a deal failed to materialise.
Caddis, a one-cap Scotland international, has played just once this season, with the former Celtic and Swindon man’s campaign disrupted by a dislocated shoulder.
Pompey currently boast three first-team right-back options, converted-winger Gareth Evans, summer signing Drew Talbot and untested January arrival Aaron Simpson.
Youngster Calvin Davies can also play in the position but is on loan at Ryman League premier division Bognor.
