Pompey will start the new season with a long slog to Middlesbrough.

But the Blues will face a south coast derby against newly-promoted Brighton in their opening at Fratton Park.

Steve Cotterill’s side travel to the Riverside for the first match of the 2011-12 campaign on Saturday, August 6.

The clash all Pompey fans will be looking for takes place on Saturday, December 17.

That is when they will renew acquaintances with fierce rivals Southampton at Fratton Park.

They then go to St Mary’s for their second showdown on Saturday, April 7.

The Christmas period will see Cotterill’s men go to Millwall on Boxing Day and travel to Leicester on New Year’s Eve, before meeting Watford at home on January 2

Pompey close the campaign with a tricky trip to the City Ground to take on Nottingham Forest on Saturday, April 28.
