Pompey have completed the signing of Hungarian striker Marko Futacs.

The 21-year-old has sealed a move to the Blues after a period on trial at the club.

The 6ft 5in powerhouse arrives following his release from German outfit Werder Bremen on a one-year deal with an option for a further two.

Futacs has been plying his trade on loan at second division outfit FC Ingolstadt 04 before arriving at Fratton Park.

Steve Cotterill has been impressed with the Hungarian under-21 international in his stay with the club.

Nottingham Forest have also been keen on the player.

Cotterill described his signing as a ‘calculated risk’.

The Blues boss, speaking ahead of his arrival at the club’s weekly press briefing, said: ‘It’s not a huge risk. I’m just taking a calculated risk.

‘What I am saying by that is I have seen what I have seen, I like what I have seen.

‘He is only a young boy. He’s got good potential.’
