Pompey continued their stunning recent run as they cruised to a 2-0 win over Scunthorpe at Fratton Park tonight.

The Blues made it five wins on the trot and five consecutive clean sheets as second-half goals from Dave Kitson and Aaron Mokoena sealed the points.

Scunthorpe made Pompey work hard for the win and the lowly visitors should have been ahead in the first half as Lee Miller’s header was harshly chalked off for a push in the box.

But while Pompey laboured in the first period, they looked far sharper after the break as Kitson cracked home a sweet low drive to open the scoring just beyond the hour mark.

Even after Pompey took the lead, Scunthorpe failed to really test Jamie Ashdown and Mokoena made the game safe 10 minutes from time as his shot from the edge of the box took a deflection and found its way into the bottom corner.
