Three Pompey talkers after Fleetwood win

Pompey had a miserable start to 2011 as they were thumped by Watford tonight.

Steve Cotterill's men went down to a poor 3-0 loss to the Hornets at Vicarage Road.

Andrew Taylor's wonder volley separated the sides at the break following an even first 45 minutes.

But it was one way traffic after that as Pompey's back line was easily opened up by Malky Mackay's men.

Marvin Sordell doubled his team's advantage seven minutes after the restart.

Then Danny Graham put the game beyond doubt with 20 minutes remaining with Watford rampant.

To make matters worse, Steve Cotterill's battered squad has lost Greg Halford, who was sent off for a tangle with Andrew Taylor.

The only bright spots for Pompey on a bleak evening was Tom Kilbey making his debut and the news Liam Lawrence's loan signing from Stoke had become permanent.

But the holes in Pompey's squad are glaringly evident with Cotterill still waiting to hear from Balram Chainrai to see if he can make any signings.

And there is still not further news on the Richard Hughes and Michael Brown contract situations.
