Pompey today unveiled their new away kit.

The strip was shown off to supporters at the fans’ day at Fratton Park ahead of a friendly match against Charlton Athletic.

The white shirt with Pompey blue trim and a red collar includes an impression of the famous Pompey sailor, in a tie-in between the club and The News and relaunched Sports Mail.

Pompey’s engagement manager Micah Hall said: ‘This very much cements our new association with the Portsmouth News and celebrates our history.

‘We are proud to have a constructive relationship with our friends at The News, which recognises many mutually beneficial areas. But The News also retains its freedom to be an independent voice for Pompey fans everywhere.

‘Half the matches in our history have been played away from Fratton Park and most fans have experienced them through the Sports Mail.

‘We’re delighted to be able to commemorate this part of our history in a shirt we think will be hugely popular with our fans.’

The new away shirt, together with blue shorts and socks, is expected to be on sale before the opening league game of the season against Oxford on August 3.

It will cost 34.99 for adults, £24.99 for juniors and £19.99 for infants
